KPMG is currently seeking a Senior Associate, Fixed Assets / Cost Segregation (AMCS) to join our Accounting Methods and Credit Services practice.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinateand perform cost segregation and fixed asset analyses for constructionprojects, real estate acquisitions, and renewable energy and sustainabilityinitiatives
- Analyzeconstruction cost data, general ledger detail, architectural/engineeringdrawings, and capitalization support to determine asset classification andidentify costs eligible for tax treatment
- Conductsite visits and fieldwork to evaluate building components (such as electrical,mechanical, plumbing systems) and validate cost assumptions
- Collaboratewith clients, contractors, and internal teams to gather technical documentationand ensure completeness and accuracy of analyses
- Preparedetailed engineering-based reports, depreciation analyses, reconciliations, andsupporting documentation for client deliverables, including participation intax fixed asset outsourcing engagements (Fed, State, E&P)
- Identifyopportunities related to sales tax exemptions (such as utility reviews) andcontribute to process enhancements and data-driven workflow improvements,including the use of automation tools and standardized methodologies
- Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment
Qualifications:
- Minimumtwo years of recent experience in an engineering firm, corporation, or publicaccounting firm; background in cost segregation, fixed assetconsulting, construction, engineering, or a related technical field is preferred
Bachelor'sdegree from an accredited college/university in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a closely relateddiscipline is required - Great understanding of construction processes and building systems, and how projectcosts translate into asset classifications
- Knowledgeof federal income tax depreciation principles and accounting for capitalexpenditures, preferred
- Experiencereviewing technical drawings, construction documentation, and large projectcost datasets
- Strong proficiency in Excel (such as advanced formulas, pivot tables, lookups)and experience working with structured data from financial or operationalsystems; demonstrated experience or strong aptitude with datawrangling/automation tools (such as Power Query, Alteryx), business intelligencetools (such as Power BI, Tableau), or query/scripting languages (such as SQL,Python, R)
