KPMG is currently seeking a Managing Director to join our Washington National Tax (WNT) organization.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with International Tax field professionals and other offices of KPMG LLP (including KPMG International member firms and other WNT practice groups) to advise a full range of corporate clients, including major multinational clients, on U.S. international tax matters
- Conduct and document tax research necessary to support and substantiate tax advice, tax controversy and tax return-signing positions and monitor new developments in tax law relating to international tax
- Prepare or review tax positions, including those in tax memoranda and opinions; private letter rulings; responses to IRS inquiries and document requests, closing agreements, tax compliance tools, presentation materials and other deliverables
- Contribute to the growth, experience and institutional knowledge of the WNT practice staff level team members
- Serve as a specialist on U.S. International Tax issues, including developing and providing instruction for internal firm courses, client trainings and conferences, authoring and reviewing articles, participating in professional activities and performing other risk management activities
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of recent experience in an audit, tax and/or advisory firm, professional services firm or think tank, coupled with experience with public sector agencies and corporations
- Previous experience with several of the following common international tax planning areas: Outbound Transactional Structuring and Subpart F, Inbound Transactional Structuring, Check the Box Principles, U.S. Tax Treaty Research, Repatriation Strategies, Intellectual and Intangible Property Planning, Structured Finance, Base Shifting, FSC/EIE, Foreign Tax Credit Planning, Transfer Pricing or International Mergers and Acquisitions
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university and licensed CPA, JD/LLM or Enrolled Agent
- Experience with large project management including managing multiple client engagements and client service teams
- Excellent advisory and compliance skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information, including ability to translate research findings into clear and actionable results
