KPMG iscurrently seeking a Senior Associate, Construction Cost Accountant to join ourReal Estate Services organization.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain financial reporting related to capital projects, including weekly project budgets, monthly accruals, capital project updates, project financial summaries, forecast analysis, and budget-to-actual variance reporting; ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and firm policies
- Manage tenant improvement allowance (TIA) programs, including preparation and submission of draw packages, collection tracking, supporting documentation, landlord reimbursement follow-up, and portfolio reporting
- Maintain and update project financial data and tracking systems, including Sage Timberline, SAP, and other firm platforms; input and manage job entries, approved budgets, forecast updates, transaction approvals, and related project details while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to policies and procedures
- Support preparation, processing, reconciliation, and tracking of purchase orders, invoices, change orders, vendor records, and project-related financial transactions; resolve vendor-related issues and ensure required documentation is accurate, complete, and properly maintained
- Partner with Architecture & Construction project managers, Lease Administration, Finance & Accounting, Tax, landlords, vendors, and other stakeholders to analyze project costs, investigate discrepancies, resolve financial issues, communicate potential cost overruns or forecast concerns, and support timely project closeout
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc analysis, dashboards, and reporting tools related to construction projects, capital investments, and portfolio-level activity; identify opportunities to improve reporting effectiveness, automate manual processes, enhance data quality, and act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment

Qualifications:
- Minimum three years of recent experience in construction project cost accounting, capital project finance, project accounting, or corporate real estate finance, preferably within a corporate real estate organization or with large-scale construction projects
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- Proficiency with Sage Timberline, SAP, project cost accounting systems, or similar financial/project management platforms; advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and financial modeling; experience with Power BI, automation tools, or AI-enabled productivity tools is preferred
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, construction accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and construction industry standards and practices
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, relationship management, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy; ability to identify trends, communicate financial insights, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively with project managers, contractors, vendors, finance professionals, and other stakeholders
