KPMG is currently seeking a Senior Director Market Relationship, Emerging Growth and Private Market to join our BDO organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and own senior‑level relationships with founders, C‑suite executives, board members, investors, and alumni across emerging growth and private market accounts and represent the firm externally through selective participation in market events, ecosystem initiatives, and relationship‑driven forums
  • Originate and expand business opportunities across existing and new clients, with a focus on greenfield accounts
  • Own defined market growth objectives, including pipeline development, revenue influence, and referral generation; track and report progress against quarterly and annual goals
  • Maintain deep market intelligence by monitoring funding activity, exits, leadership changes, emerging subsectors, and competitive dynamics within the startup and investor ecosystem
  • Develop and deepen strategic relationships with Venture Capital and Private Equity firms, including GPs, LPs, and platform leaders, to drive referrals and early access to portfolio companies and generate ecosystem‑driven opportunities in collaboration with law firms, CFO advisory firms, outsourced accounting providers, and other key influencers
  • Coordinate closely with partners and engagement teams across service lines to align pursuit strategy, client positioning, and account planning and contribute to proposal and pursuit efforts by shaping value propositions, differentiators, and win themes tailored to founders, boards, and investors
  • Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment

Qualifications:

  • Minimum ten years of recent progressive experience in the emerging growth ecosystem, including business development or client relationship roles focused on financial or professional services for venture‑backed and private companies
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university required (business or related field preferred)
  • Established and credible network within the local Bay Area market and the broader national private‑company ecosystem, including strong relationships with venture capital and private equity professionals (GPs, LPs, heads of platform), founders, CEOs, CFOs, and board‑level stakeholders
  • Proven success building and leading senior‑level relationships with C‑suite executives and boards, and consistently identifying, initiating, and advancing new business opportunities and demonstrated experience engaging with ecosystem partners, including venture capital and private equity platforms, outsourced accounting and CFO firms, professional employer organizations (PEOs), investment banks, law firms, and other advisors serving emerging growth companies
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex business and financial concepts, including fundraising dynamics, capital structure alternatives, common deal terms, and growth‑stage challenges, and to articulate how professional services offerings address those needs with the ability to gather and synthesize market intelligence to support strategic decision‑making and partnership development
  • Willingness to travel as business needs require
